German Sports Car Company Wins Leading Industry Product Award for Fourth Consecutive Year

ATLANTA—J.D. Power has rated Porsche the number-one overall brand for the fourth time in a row in its Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study SM, representing the latest in a string of first-place rankings for Porsche with this highly regarded, independent research group. The APEAL Study, now in its 13th year, measures owner delight with the design, content, layout and performance of their new vehicles.

“To win this award is a significant accomplishment because it clearly demonstrates how passionate our owners are about the products. Winning it four times is something very special,” said Detlev von Platen, president and CEO, Porsche Cars North America, Inc. “Couple this with being ranked the top nameplate in JD Power’s Initial Quality Study SM (IQS) only a few weeks ago, and you can see the positive reaction of our customers to Porsche’s continuing commitment to quality.”

Porsche received an overall nameplate score of 854. The Porsche Cayman won for the Compact Premium Sports segment. The Porsche 911 and the Porsche Cayenne took their respective categories, Premium Sporty Models and Midsize Premium Multi Activity Vehicles, for consecutive years.

APEAL measures how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive, measuring everything from the engine performance to the satisfaction of stereo and seats. The Study is designed to complement the IQS study, which focuses on problems experienced by owners during the first 90 days of ownership.

“This is truly a major feat for our brand: by giving us first-place marks in IQS and APEAL, our customers have demonstrated a full spectrum of practical and emotional satisfaction with the design and performance of their vehicles,” said Von Platen.

The 2008 APEAL Study is based on responses gathered between February and May 2008 from more than 91,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2008 model-year cars and trucks who were surveyed after the first 90 days of ownership.
